NOTE: All of these calculators have been on the market for some time and are not really very new. This page should be readied for the next batch of new realeases.

During September / October 2003, a number of new calculators were added to the HP range, the new models include

  • 49G+
  • 48GII
  • 33S
  • hp17bII+
  • hp39g+

At the time of writing all but the hp17bII+ have not been offically released. The 49G+ is available through some retailers. The 48GII and the 33S do not appear to be avilable anywhere yet (5-Oct). The 39g+ has a release date near the end of November. Only the 17bII+ appears on HP's web site (http://www.hp.com/calculators/financial/17bIIplus/)

The most talked about model (as far as the HP 48 newsgroup is concerned) is the hp49G's replacement, the 49G+. This new calculator features a new processor - Arm 75MHz chipset, SD memory - removable SD memory format that supports up to 512Mb of user removable memory, USB serial cable interface, larger screen and a new and improved (over the 49G) keyboard.

There have been some issues regarding the 49G+. Initally there was a problem with battery life (an upgrade of the OS has been issued as a fix) and some people have reported that the keyboard has not been registering keypresses. The battery life issue has been fixed and will no longer be a problem. The keypress issue has not been confimed and it is not publicly known if this is a major problem with the model. There is an issue with the USB interface for users of older computers, that is if you do not have a computer with a USB port you will have to upgrade you computer so that you can use USB with the calculator.
